I don’t remember who came up with the “Great Fairy of the Christian Music Industry” concept originally (I think it was Tim), but I loved it and ran with it. The idea that there was some mystical entity that released music based on the whim of random passerby instead of the quality of the music… wait, that is how it works!

If the Great Fairy represents the actual CCM industry, then Matt stands in for all the Christian teenagers who find out that such a thing as “Christian rock” exists, get all excited because they want to hear good tunes from people who share their faith, and then lose interest when they realize that the stockholders and youth pastors have a different definition of “good tunes”.

I’m not saying that Christians aren’t making awesome music, though. They just aren’t typically signed to Christian labels.
